HOW TO LOOK GOOD……………….(to yourself)

When you look in the mirror what do you see? We are taught from the moment we can think that being “pretty” (aka looking good) is what females need to do. It just IS. Period.

We live in an era that equates being female with a rating scale based on outer appearance. Holy cow.

Stop and think about that.

[You likely don’t notice it because its normal to you. But really look at it… IF you have trouble seeing it, think of your little granddaughter or daughter or you as a little girl. Now you get it. This creates a deep rage agasint any sort of system that perpetuates such a lie.]

That is massivley problematic on so many levels. We are allotted power, prestige, favor, bestowed worth, even CHOSEN if we ‘look right’. (????!!!)

What that means for the woman who has a number of decades under her belt, is:

  1. Buy more THINGS (to improve appearance.) (clothing, make-up, jewelry, nails…score ONE for Business!)

  2. Get more treatments/procedures (same purpose).

  3. Mask it, enhance it, camoflauge it, Get it altered. For God’s sake, make it BETTER.

Or…. what’s the alternative? In this system we live in…the alternative is YOU’RE OUT. You lose the culturally bestowed power, Yes, we have or are spending billions of dollars on this pursuit of looking good.

I like the pretty dresses, princess shoes and lipstick as much as the next girl but I’ve been looking at what is underneath all of this. And as a coach of women in the second half of life, I see what deep deep havoc it wreaks inside each woman as her face, and body age naturally.

The major outcome is lack of confidence, confidence to speak up, create something big, be visible, be powerful. And the sad outcome is movement toward annonymity, and smallness of life. (Because after all, we don’t fit the wallstreet image anymore.)

AND THE CRAZY REALITY IS A WOMAN SHOULD BE AT HER MOST POWERFUL STATE THE OLDER SHE IS. Its like a graph line rising as life goes on. She is wiser, clearer, has more time, than ever before in her life. YET…this appearance thing has her in a state of questionable confidence. No bueno ladies.

In fact, I don’t think I’ve met a woman yet who isn’t dealing with this on a daily basis…that feeling of “Oh dear. This is going south and it’s kind of scary how fast.” To find a woman deeply at peace and embracing of all of the aging process is beyond rare to virtually unheard of.

Since the body listens WITH A PERFECTLY TUNED EAR to the mind, this becomes something imperative we MUST FIGURE OUT if we are to age in a pleasant-vibrant-peaceful-happy way. Yes my sisters??

Our minds cannot be saying “Eeeek this is unacceptable!” without the body responding and creating lack of wellness, emotional, physical, and spiritual.

As with any process this is a labor of love…removing this old CONSCIOUSNESS (or software) from the hard drive. It is a garden that must be watered moment to moment. I have made much progress and am way MORE free but am still a work in progress on this topic. Just about daily I examine what my mind is thinking as I look in the mirror, choose my clothing, perceive my ‘acceptability’ in the culture.

. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The goal?

Learn to have a deep, reverent, intimate relationship with our own bodies as our ride or die besties. Be able to really inhabit the body intimately. Hear it speak.

If we don’t? Aging is not going to be a fun ride.

At all.

More like a constant bitter pill to swallow.

This subject, this pursuit, has the biggest pwer to change all of your life, including your physical reality. AND its the best reason to get some coaching. I am masterful at this in particular. Likely because I’ve walked it so closely in myself. ( I say that without shame or arrrogance.)

Wink Wink….

Ladies, let’s take back this ground shall we?

And…have some fun in the process.
